ABOUT ME:

I grew up in the Catonsville area, the oldest of 8 children. I attended St. William of York Elementary School, Archbishop Keough High School (before it merged with Seton High), and Towson State University. From first grade on, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I had a pretend classroom in my basement and used my younger siblings as my students. I remember at an early age buying a plan book, grader, stickers, and a grade book. (Way before the days of computers and Power Grade!)

After getting my B.S. in Elementary Education, I taught third grade at Trinity School in Ellicott City. I married Ray Renehan, also a teacher at that time (he taught my younger brother!!) and eventually taught at Our Lady of Victory School in Arbutus, teaching second and third grade. I then moved on to Anne Arundel County Public Schools, to Overlook Elementary in the Linthicum area and had a challenging first/second combination class.

My two beautiful children, Katie and Sean came into my life and I decided to stop teaching full-time until they were older. I sold Discovery Toys and worked for Sylvan Learning Center in order to stay home with my children. When Katie was in 8th grade and Sean in 2nd, I worked as an aide in first grade at SHS. The next year I was offered a part-time Language Arts position in 6th grade. I was scared to death to teach middle school! During that year, I realized how much I LOVED that age group. I would never return to the primary grades again. The last five years I have taught Religion to grades 7 and 8. WOW! I am so blessed to teach such a fascinating subject that is near and dear to my heart. In our secular society, it is a real challenge to speak the Gospel message in a fun, interesting way. My students challenge me and ask such deep questions about their faith. I am so thankful to be part of this wonderful community!

This year poses a great, exciting challenge for me. I was chosen to be the assistant principal of middle school and will still be teaching 3 Religion classes. I feel honored and blessed to work with such a dedicated middle school team, and such incredible middle school children. I know it will be an awesome year!!!!
