Ms. Angerer’s Music Madness
All About Me
Welcome to Sacred Heart’s
Music Program! I am Ms. Katie Angerer,
general music teacher for Sacred Heart School of Glyndon for full day
kindergarten through grade 8. I also direct
two school choirs—an intermediate choir for students in grades four and five,
and a middle school chorus for students in grades six through eight. I received my Bachelors of Music Education
from Indiana University in 2002, with an emphasis on choral/general music. My training began with the Children’s Chorus
of Maryland in 1984-1994 under the direction of Betty Bertaux and Andrea Nutter
Macon. I then went on to study private
voice with Mary Ruzicka and Teresa Kubiak.
I also studied piano at Jordan Kitts Music in Timonium under the instruction
of Ross Merriman. In my ever-present
drive to learn more about my favorite topic, I currently study mandolin at the
Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe in Catonsville with Charles Roe.
Sacred Heart School Music
The Sacred Heart School music
program consists of general classroom music for all students in grades
K-8. Our emphasis is on vocal and
instrumental music using the Kodaly, Orff-Schulwerk and Dalcroze methods of
teaching music. The students learn how
to sing songs, play xylophones and other percussion instruments, read music,
and analyze musical excerpts ranging from Bach to rock! The over-arching theme of my classroom is
that MUSIC IS FUN!!
Choir Programs
Over the past three years the
interest in the Sacred Heart school choir has grown so much that we have had to
break into two separate choirs. The
