
Dear Parents,
Due to the water main break and the
closing of our school please take this opportunity to spend some quality time
with your child. I have listed a few
activities/ideas that you can do to reinforce your child’s learning!
First and foremost READ, READ, and READ
to your child! Discuss story elements;
characters, settings, problems and solutions.
Give them opportunities to read to you or ask them to tell you a
story. Please review with your child the
letters and sounds of the alphabet; build CVC words (i.e., dog, cat, mom, gum,
pig, jug, etc.), review sight words, practice handwriting, create pictures and
write about them, create a story with your child (in class we have been reading
and comparing the different Three Little
Pig stories) they could make up their own story about the Three Little Mice
and the Big Bad Cat!
For Math; work on number identification
(0-30), practice writing numbers (0-20), work with money (penny, nickel, dime
and quarter), do simple addition and subtraction problems.
For Science and Social Studies; discuss
the changes that are occurring during Spring, why it is important to conserve water
all the time!J
For Religion; discuss the importance of
Easter and how Jesus loves us all the time.J
Please make certain that you and your
child take advantage of these beautiful early Spring days! Enjoy a walk, play baseball, play with
sidewalk chalk (write some words!), or go for a bike ride.
