EXPECTATION

Homework

·        Homework is given on most nights.  The students will have two days to complete the assignment.  All written work must be completed in the required 3-subject notebook.

·        Current events may be assigned.    Articles must be of national or world interest.  Specific directions will be given

·  COMING TO CLASS UNPREPARED THREE TIMES WILL RESULT IN A DETENTION.  STUDENTS MUST HAVE THEIR TEXTBOOK, NOTEBOOK, AND ASSIGNMENT FOR CLASS EACH DAY.

·        Extra credit assignments will not be given.

·        Students are required to get homework assignments and notes when absent.  Time will be allowed to complete missed work.

·        MAKE SURE TO USE YOUR ASSIGNMENT BOOK EVERY DAY.

Assessment

·        There will be a vocabulary and/or content quiz following each section of each chapter.  Generally there will be two quizzes each week. Occasionally there may be a geography quiz.   Extra credit points may be given on quizzes.

·        An exam will follow each chapter.  Generally there will be a test every two weeks. The exam will contain essay questions.  These questions will be completed in class using the textbook.  The remainder of the exam will be closed book.

Projects

·        There will be one project for each trimester.  All projects will be completed in school.  Students may need parent’s/guardian’s assistance in gathering resource materials such as library books and information off the Internet.  Points will be deducted for late work.

Notebook

  • 3-subject notebook with pockets and a pen or pencil is required for class each day. Specific directions as to how the notebook will be laid out will be given.   All homework, current events, notes, quizzes, and this expectation paper are required to be in the notebook.  The material in the notebook will be the student’s study guide for quizzes and tests.  Therefore, the work must be clearly identified with book page numbers and sequential for ease of reference.  Loose leaf is never accepted.

The series we will be using, McDougal/Littell has an internet site which can provide extra practice for the information being taught.  It is www.classzone.com.  It can be helpful
